Joseph E. Blado

Hi there! My name is Joseph Blado. I am the endowed James A. and Susan K. Keller Postdoctoral Fellow in philosophy at Wofford College. I recently received my PhD in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame under Brian Cutter and Kris McDaniel (graduated May 16th, 2026). Before this, I was a visiting scholar at Indiana University, Bloomington. I specialize in Metaphysics and Eastern Philosophy (particularly Asian traditions). I also have strong research and teaching interests focusing on Epistemology, Ethics, Logic and Philosophy of Religion. I've published in venues like the Canadian Journal of Philosophy, Bloomsbury, and the Asian Journal of Philosophy, and presented at places like Vanderbilt, Glasgow (UK), and Notre Dame. I also recently taught an Eastern Philosophy course that covered underrepresented philosophical traditions such as Filipino, Hawaiian, and Fijian philosophy. I'm excited about promoting Eastern philosophical traditions as rich and rigorous traditions. Beyond philosophy, I enjoy doing CrossFit, and spending time with my wife, son, and golden retriever named Hazel.
