I received my PhD from Notre Dame in May 2017. I work at the intersection of Epistemology, Philosophy of Mind, and Ethics. Much of my research centers on a puzzle concerning our moral responsibility for our beliefs. In short, the puzzle lies in the fact that we are committed to the following, seemingly incompatible claims: (i) we are responsible for our beliefs; (ii) responsibility requires control; and (iii) beliefs are not under our (immediate) control. I work to resolve the puzzle while doing justice to all three commitments. In all my work, I am preeminently interested in examining what we owe one another in terms of being certain kinds of people with certain kinds of personalities as well as how we go about fulfilling those obligations and making ourselves into the persons we ought to be.
