Stephen Dumont has been awarded an NEH Fellowship for 2013-2014

Stephen Dumont has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship for the academic year 2013-2014. The award was given for his project entitled “The Two Affections of the Will: From Anselm of Canterbury to John Duns Scotus,” which will examine the development of the concept of free will in the late medieval period. This is the third NEH Fellowship for the Notre Dame Philosophy Department in the past five years, including those of Samuel Newlands (2007) and Karl Ameriks (2010). For the past two years, Prof. Dumont has also been a member of the NEH Collaborative Grant at Notre Dame (NEH Grant RQ-50549-11) to edit the Parisian works of Duns Scotus.  Read More
